For almost all of us, traveling is part of our lifestyle. Whether it’s to see family, go on vacation, or for work, we all will travel somewhere this year. All of these things can be fun (well, maybe not the work one), but they all mess with our schedule. And when our schedule is out of whack, one of the first things to go is our workout!
Luckily, the world makes its so much easier to workout from anywhere these days! Gym memberships are amazing (and so are personal trainers), but you won’t always have access to these when you are traveling. What you do have access to are some amazing workout videos online. Beachbody has over 800+ exercise videos for all levels from professional trainers. Youtube also has some great videos. As long as you have access to internet, you can exercise from anywhere. And if you don’t want to do a video, you can find a gym close by or bring some of your own workout equipment that is easy to pack (exercise bands, sliders, mat, etc). Just know yourself and what you like do, then set yourself up for success by having everything you need ready.
Here’s your check-list to make sure you keep working out in your routine:
- Pack easily accessible workout material
- Pack workout clothes and tennis shoes
- Bring your computer or Phone so you can access online workouts
- Make a plan for exercise even before you leave
- Try to find an accountability partner on your trip
- Find a place to workout soon after you arrive
Lastly, set realistic expectations. You are away from home for a different purpose than working out! That means whatever your main purpose is will take up most of your time (which it should). Therefore, allow yourself some grace for not working as much as you would at home. Do everything you can do to set yourself up for success for being active while you are gone, but don’t let it consume you.
